Vodafone has announced the debut of Facebook Watch on its streaming platform across Europe. The video offering will be available next month to Vodafone TV customers in Italy, Germany, the Czech Republic, Portugal and Greece, followed by other European markets. Facebook Watch will be integrated into the Vodafone TV world and will become the first European TV provider to offer this service.
The agreement allows Facebook to make the content of its video offerings accessible to a wide audience, such as Vodafone’s, which has 22 million customers in ten European markets for its TV and VoD services. Facebook Watch content comes from a variety of providers, including publishers, broadcasters, or individual content creators.
Alex Froment-Curtil, Group Chief Commercial Officer of Vodafone Group, said after the deal: “Vodafone has 22 million television customers across Europe with a wide range of exciting, entertaining and engaging content. Now we’re giving our customers the ability to watch their favorite content. I am very pleased that Vodafone can now expand one of the leading video content platforms in Europe with a rich and varied range of TV programs featuring Facebook Watch content. †
