And here they are, finally, the new MacBook Pro. Apple has announced many new features for its flagship computers: M1 Pro and M1 Max chips, mini LED display with ProMotion, HDMI port and SDXC card reader, charging with MagSafe 3, a notch with a 1080p webcam and much more. Lake.
The two models
The 14.2-inch model is 15.5mm thick and weighs 1.5kg, while the 16.2-inch model is 16.8mm thick and weighs 2kg. The brand new aluminum housing also includes a completely new thermal design.
Back to the origin. On the right side of the computers are an HDMI port, a Thunderbolt 4 port, and an SDXC card reader. On the left side of the computer we find a MagSafe 3 port, two Thunderbolt 4 ports and a headphone jack. The keyboard now has a full-height row of function keys instead of the Touch Bar, and the entire keyboard is black.
The MacBook Pro features strikingly narrow 3.5mm bezels, with a notch at the top of the webcam display that now offers 1080p resolution with a wider aperture, a larger image sensor and benefits from an improved image signal processor.
The display itself is a Liquid Retina XDR mini LED, which also features ProMotion for refresh rates up to 120 Hz. The screen achieves a maximum brightness of 1600 nits and a contrast ratio of 1:1,000,000
The new MacBook Pros also feature improved studio-quality microphones and speakers that support spatial audio, with the 16-inch model featuring a six-speaker system.

Magnetic charging also returns with MagSafe 3, with fast charging up to 50% charge in 30 minutes. Charging via the Thunderbolt ports is still possible. When playing video, the 14.2-inch model offers up to 17 hours of battery life, while the 16.2-inch model can offer up to 21 hours of video playback.
The redesigned MacBook Pro debuts with two new Apple chips. Apple’s M1 Pro chip is an enlarged and more powerful variant of the M1 chip. The M1 Pro chip features an 8- or 10-core CPU, 16-core GPU, a smarter Media Engine, multiple Thunderbolt controllers, support for up to 32 GB of unified memory and more. The M1 Max chip shares the same 10-core CPU as the M1 Pro, but includes a 24- or 32-core GPU with support for up to 64GB of unified memory.

The new MacBook Pros are available for pre-order starting today. The 14-inch model starts at € 2,300 and the 16-inch model starts at € 2,800.
